Stomprud Appointed to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the appointment of 40 members to serve on the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board, which is authorized by the Beef Promotion and Research Act of 1985.

South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association’s very own, Larry Stomprud of Mud Butte, South Dakota, has been appointed to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board. Stomprud joins 100 board members from 34 states that include beef
producers and importers of beef or beef products.

“I’m pleased to have been selected to the Cattlemen’s Beef Board,” said Stomprud. “I’ve been a long-time supporter of the beef check-off. It’s a distinct honor to be able to help direct the use of these funds on behalf of my fellow beef producers.”

The Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board’s goal is to maintain and expand domestic and foreign markets and uses for beef and beef products. The program is funded by a mandatory assessment of $1 per head collected each time cattle are sold. According to the latest economic evaluation, from 2014 through 2018, the Beef Research and Promotion program has enhanced the demand for beef at an estimated rate of return for $11.91 for every assessment dollar invested in the program.
