South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association to Host BQA Training & Region Roundup in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association (SDCA) is bringing its grassroots outreach to Sioux Falls with the upcoming Sioux Falls Region Roundup, on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds in the North Room of the Expo Building.

As part of SDCA’s commitment to meet producers where they are, Region Roundups are designed to create an open dialogue for meaningful conversations about the issues shaping South Dakota’s cattle industry. The event is open to SDCA members and non-members alike, including producers, agricultural professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about the organization’s work on behalf of the state’s beef industry.

“Whether you’re a cattle producer, part of Sioux Falls’ vibrant agri-business community, or simply interested in staying informed, we invite you to join us for an evening of connection, education, and fun,” said SDCA Director of Outreach, Galle Waletich.

The event will begin with doors opening at 5 p.m., and the first 100 attendees will receive a free drink ticket, courtesy of First National Bank in Sioux Falls. The event kicks off with a complimentary beef meal, SDCA program updates, and a technology hour featuring innovative companies serving the cattle industry. The evening will conclude with a friendly and competitive cornhole tournament, offering attendees a chance to connect and earn bragging rights.

Producers are encouraged to arrive early at 2:30 p.m. to participate in an in-person Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification training led by Dr. Warren Rusche of South Dakota State University. The BQA program provides practical, science-based guidance to help ensure strong husbandry practices, optimal animal care, and high-quality beef production.
The event will also serve as a collection point for Cartridges for Cash program. Attendees are asked to bring their used REVALOR® or RALGRO® implant cartridges from Merck to recycle. As part of this initiative, Merck has pledged to donate $0.25 for every cartridge collected, with proceeds supporting SDCA programs such as the Cattlemen’s Leadership Academy and other educational opportunities for producers.

The Sioux Falls Region Roundup is set to be a night of good food, great conversations, and a little friendly competition, bringing cattle producers together to stay engaged with the work being done to support South Dakota’s cattle industry.

Formed in 1948, the South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association (SDCA) was established to ensure the voices of South Dakota’s cattle producers are heard. Built by cattlemen, for cattlemen, SDCA is a grassroots, membership organization representing members all segments of the cattle industry across the state.
